Co-Wash Before Installation
Before installing your bundles or wig, co-wash the hair using a moisturizing, sulfate-free conditioner. This helps remove any light residue from packaging or handling, and ensures the hair is clean, hydrated, and ready for styling.
Use Sulfate-Free and Alcohol-Free Products Only
Raw hair is not chemically treated, so it responds best to gentle products. Shampoos or styling products that contain sulfates or drying alcohols will strip moisture from the hair, leading to tangling, dullness, and breakage. Choose high-quality, sulfate-free shampoos and nourishing conditioners designed for natural hair. NEVER use silicone mix.
Deep Condition Bi-Weekly
Deep conditioning keeps raw hair soft, manageable, and tangle-free. Apply a deep conditioner every two weeks, or more often if the hair is frequently styled with heat. Let the product sit for 20–30 minutes with a plastic cap before rinsing thoroughly with cool water.
Always Use Heat Protectant
Raw Vietnamese hair can be styled with heat tools like flat irons or curling wands, but just like your own hair, it must be protected. Apply a heat protectant spray or serum before using any hot tools to prevent heat damage and preserve the integrity of the hair over time.
Detangle With Care
Use a wide-tooth comb or paddle brush to gently detangle the hair, starting at the ends and working your way up to the roots. Never comb the hair while it's dry and tangled — always use a leave-in conditioner or detangling mist to help ease the process.
Let the Hair Air Dry
After washing or co-washing, gently squeeze out excess water with a microfiber towel and let the hair air dry on a mannequin head or hanger. Avoid excessive use of blow dryers; if needed, use on a cool or low heat setting with a diffuser attachment.
Wrap or Braid at Night
To prevent tangling and preserve the hair’s natural pattern, wrap your hair in a silk or satin scarf before bed, or loosely braid it into two to four sections. For wigs, place them on a mannequin head or store in a satin bag to retain shape and moisture.
Avoid Product Buildup
Limit the use of heavy oils, mousses, or gels. Product buildup can weigh down the hair, attract dirt, and affect the natural movement. Stick to lightweight serums or leave-in sprays, and clarify the hair monthly if using styling products regularly.
Protect From Chlorine and Salt Water
Just like your natural hair, raw hair can become dry and brittle from exposure to chlorine or salt water. If swimming, wear a protective swim cap. If your hair gets wet, rinse it immediately and follow up with a moisturizing conditioner.
Store Properly When Not In Use
When your bundles or wigs are not being worn, store them in a satin or silk bag, or place your wig on a mannequin head. This prevents tangling, maintains the style, and helps keep the hair clean and ready for your next install.
